Our own woodland trail, round the beck and past the old charcoal burners' platforms. Perfect before breakfast with the dog.

Through the woods and over the fields to one of the prettiest tarns in the Lakes. Flat path all the way round once you are there.

A proper day out over the fell, down to the lake for lunch, and the little ferry or the bus back if your legs have had enough.
Take the car ferry across from Sawrey, hire a rowing boat at Bowness, or catch a steamer up to Ambleside for cake.
Quieter and wilder. Paddleboards and kayaks for hire at the north end, and a lovely lakeshore path for dogs.
Our closest lake, small and peaceful. Bring a flask and watch the ospreys in late summer.

All of these welcome dogs and muddy boots. Book ahead on Saturdays.
Our local, down the lane in the village. Flagstone floors, real ales and the best Sunday roast for miles.
A tiny bar and a big garden by the beck. Famous for its pies and the landlord's spaniel.
On the shore of Windermere. Good fish, big windows and a terrace that is lovely on a sunny evening.
Worth the drive after a day on the fells. Sit by the inglenook and order the sticky toffee pudding.
It does rain in the Lakes. Here is how our guests spend a wet day, besides the obvious answer of a good book by the wood burner.
The cottage and garden at Near Sawrey look just as they do in the books. Arrive early to beat the queues.
Sculpture trails and treetop rope courses under the trees, which keep most of the rain off.
Outdoor shops, a little cinema and cosy cafes for a long lunch while the weather passes.
We can book a massage therapist to come to your lodge. Ask us when you enquire.
