Starmark Junior terms of use
The key terms for using Starmark Junior. They add to the full TFY Apps terms of use, which also apply, including the section on revision and learning apps. By downloading or using Starmark Junior you agree to both.
Who we are
Starmark Junior is made by TFY Apps, the trading name of TFYDJC LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17532068, registered office 198 West End Lane, London, NW6 1SG. Contact us at info@tfyapps.com.
What Starmark Junior is, and what it is not
We work hard to keep the lessons accurate and matched to the national curriculum for England, but Starmark Junior is a learning aid and does not replace your child's school or teacher. It is independent and is not endorsed by the Department for Education or any school.
- We do not promise any particular progress, test result or level.
- Starmark Junior is made for children to use with a parent or carer's support. Parents and carers decide whether it is suitable for their child and are responsible for supervising their child's use of devices and screen time.
Free and paid parts
Part of Starmark Junior is free to use. The rest is unlocked with a subscription bought inside the app through Apple's App Store or Google Play. The subscription options, any free trial and their prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
- Payment is taken by Apple or Google from the account you use for the App Store or Google Play when you confirm the purchase. We never see your card details.
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the price shown when you subscribed (or a new price you have been told about in advance, as Apple or Google require), unless you turn off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- If a free trial is offered and you do not cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the paid subscription starts and you are charged when the trial ends. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Cancelling and refunds
Purchases are made through Apple or Google, so cancellations and refunds are handled by them under their own policies and the law: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com or through your Google Play order history. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals; it does not by itself give a refund for the current period.
As a consumer in the UK you normally have 14 days to change your mind about digital content bought online, but you lose that right once the download or access begins if you agreed to it starting straight away and acknowledged that you would lose the right to cancel. Apple or Google ask for this when you buy. If Starmark Junior is faulty, you keep your legal rights to a repair, a replacement or a refund. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Using Starmark Junior
Starmark Junior is for children aged 4 to 11. Subscriptions are bought by a parent or carer in the Grown-ups area, which is behind a grown-up check. Our children's apps contain no advertising. See children's apps and parental responsibility in the full terms.
Starmark Junior is for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please do not copy, resell or share its content outside the app, or try to get around its payment or access controls.
Our responsibility to you
We take reasonable care with Starmark Junior, but it is provided as it is, and we do not guarantee that it is always available, free of errors, complete or up to date, or that it will give you any particular result.
If Starmark Junior or its content is faulty you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and nothing in these terms limits them. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, or for business losses. If defective digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or pay you compensation.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
Changes
We may update these terms, for example when the law or the app changes. We will update this page and the date above, and tell you in the app about any significant change. If you pay for a subscription and do not agree to a significant change, you can cancel before it takes effect.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you live outside the UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may be able to bring a claim in its courts where its law allows.
