Mapnado privacy policy
Mapnado is a geography quiz for everyone. It has no accounts, no adverts and no tracking, never asks for your name, email or location, and works completely offline. This page explains what that means.
Who we are
Mapnado is made by TFY Apps, the trading name of TFYDJC Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17532068, registered office 198 West End Lane, London NW6 1SG. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact us about privacy at info@tfyapps.com.
What stays on your device
Your scores, best times, daily challenge results, streak, XP, achievements, practice list and settings are saved only on your device, in the app's own storage. We cannot see them. They are deleted if you remove the app, and you can delete them at any time in Settings with Reset progress.
The app does not use the camera, microphone, contacts, photos or your location.
No statistics are sent
This version of Mapnado sends no statistics or usage information to us or to anyone else. The game makes no network requests at all; it is built so that it cannot connect to any server. If a future version offers optional anonymous statistics, it will ask you first, they will stay off unless you say yes, and we will update this policy before that version is released.
Sharing your result
If you tap Share after a daily challenge, the game hands a short line of text (your result as a grid of squares) to your device's share sheet or copies it to the clipboard. You choose where it goes. Nothing is sent by the game itself.
Mapnado Plus
If you buy Mapnado Plus, a grown-up check appears first, and Apple's App Store or Google Play take the payment and handle your payment details under their own privacy policies. We never receive your card details, name or email address. Apple or Google keep the record of the purchase so it can be restored on your other devices.
Playing in your browser
If you play Mapnado on our website, the same applies: your progress is saved only in your browser's storage on your device, and the game sends nothing to us. Our server records the visit as described below.
Our website and server
The app never contacts our server. Our server only hears from you if you open one of our web pages (such as this policy, the support page or the browser version of the game). Like any web server, it records the internet address of the device, the time, the page requested and the browser type, so we can keep the service secure and working, which is in our legitimate interest. These logs are deleted after 14 days. The Mapnado pages on our website set no cookies, load no analytics and load nothing from other websites.
Our server is hosted by Amazon Web Services in its Stockholm data centre in Sweden, as our service provider. Sweden is covered by the UK's adequacy regulations, so no other safeguards are needed.
If you email us
If you email us, we use your email address and message to reply and to help you, which is in our legitimate interest and yours. We delete the conversation once it is no longer needed.
Who we share information with
Nobody, apart from Amazon Web Services, which runs our server for us, and Apple or Google for purchases. We never sell information and never share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Children
Mapnado is suitable for all ages, and we expect children to play it, so we follow the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code): high privacy by default, no profiling, no adverts, no chat and no way to contact other people. A grown-up check appears before any purchase. If you are a parent or carer and think your child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or stop using it. From the game itself we hold nothing about you; if you have emailed us, we hold that email. Contact info@tfyapps.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top, and if a change affects what the app does with information we will update this page before that version of the app is released.
